I found a used King Kutter 72" rototiller. I see where they are rated for 35-50 pto HP. My 3520 is rated for 30 pto hp. Can my tractor handle the 72" ?
I want to be able to run it like it should be not baby it along. The guy said he just used it in the garden no cmmercial use. Its about 4 yrs. old, he's asking 1000.00 for it but with cash in hand I'm sure I can get it for less. Haven't seen it yet, might this wkend. From reading other threads I know what to look for. I want to be as informed as possible before I see it. Any help will be appreciated.

I have a Howard 300 rotovator of the same working width that I used with a JD 4320 (rated at 35 hp pto) and had no problems. Generally rototillers are spec'd to operate over a range of pto hp's. While the 3520's pto hp may be marginal I would expect it would perform sufficiently enough and would not overdrive the King Kutter. For a thousand bucks (or less) that sounds like a good deal. I paid $3K for my new Howard in 2005. If it doesn't work out for you I supect you could sell it for what you paid or make a good argument for a new tractor!

Im gonna say you answered your own question, not only is your tractor on the low end of pto rated hp for the kk, its below it. If you dont want to baby it then you probably wont be happy, but at that price maybe its worth the risk? I was just reading about someone bogging a 60 inch pretty bad with 26 ptohp when the soil was wet so i dunno man, good luck.

You should be fine.
I run a 72" KKII tiller behind my 28.3 PTO HP tractor with no problem.

You should be fine. My 3320 handles my 1000lb 60 inch Howard tiller fine. Even in wet soil as deep as she will till. If nothing else bought at the right price you will not lose either way.

I've had a KK 72" rototiller for several yrs. I first ran it on a Cub Cadet 7360 35 pto hp and it was too much then I sold it and bought a used Kubota M4900(49 pto hp) and in my soil in low gear it still a load the first time over.

I'm looking at a 72" KK tiller for a Kubota L3940. I called KK and they said that their ratings are for tractor HP not PTO HP. Can anyone give me some advice on using a KK 72" tiller on a 3940? The K guy said I'd be fine. I don't want to buy something that hasn't been tested yet.

I run a 6ft KK behind my 3720 and have no problems at all. The only time it even bogs down is when I run one of the many softball sized rocks that it finds underground through it (ones that don't stop the slip-clutch) The tractor will handle it fine and the KK tiller is an incredible implement - two years - LOTS of rock dents in the tiller - NO problems.

I'll bet you can. If I could find a deal like that I'd grab it even with my 3320.
