I have noticed a trend latetly that whenever someone recommends a "relatively low priced" piece of equipment people always recommend TSC and their KK line. Is there a believe here that TSC's prices are lower than independent dealer prices for the same KK equipment? I sell KK equipment (along with Bush Hog and Befco), and while it is my lower line my pricing is always the same as TSC if not lower. I just don't want there to be a "myth" that TSC is cheaper...and it might very well be in your area...but thats not the case everywhere.

Also take into consideration that TSC can't perform warranty work...thats your job in their eyes...thats not my picture of warranty work. Anyway, sorry for the rant it was just getting on my nerves!

As a fellow dealer I could not agree more with you. I still believe purchasing from a local dealer is best for the consumer in the long-term. We are a busy dealer and do not have time to service the bottom price only brands again & again. I believe this is why these brands are sold by the fleet stores because their customers know they will not get any service. That same customer is welcome to trade-in their fleet store purchases to us and we send them on to the auction yard immediately.

I think it is more that TSC is a chain like Home Depot...with a lot of them around, all of which carry KK.

I never got the impression that anyone was trying to say TSC was cheaper than a dealer who sells KK. I could be wrong, just never got that impression.

In my case, I bought most of my KK stuff from TSC, but did buy the gage wheels for my KK rake from a tractor dealer, and not TSC. TSC's price was a little higher actually, but their shipping was lower, and the net price to me would have been the same. Neither had them in stock.

I checked out a KK dirt scoop at a dealers, but bought from TSC because the TSC piece looked a little better and dumped smoother. Again the price was about the same.

My dealer does not sell KK and for that reason myself, if I recommend KK as a cheap, lower quality alternative, I tend to think TSC for some reason, rather than the one local dealer that I know of that sells TSC.

I hear what your are saying though. It is very unusual for some to say check out a KK unit at TSC or your local dealer. The sentence seems to stop for the most part right after TSC. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Gamble77,

I see you are in Georgia, me too ! I have been pricing 6 ft box blades at TSC and several tractor dealers. Who knows I may have spoken to you. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif So far no one has beat the TSC in Griffin price for a comprable box blade. I will admit the Bush Hogs and Woods are better built than the KK's. The price is also above $600.00 and the KK is $415.00. So what brand do you carry that is priced near the KK ?

Send me a PM with the name of your business and I will come by and take a look to see what you have. I'm in the market for several implements.

The current Bush Hog Box blade shown at the National Farm Machinery show is 100% the same design as the Midwest design that Jim McCuan is responsible for designing. Midwest is now producing box blades for Bush Hog.

I am guilty of suggesting TSC. I just wish you two had stores in my area. I have to drive minimum of 35 miles to get to any dealer other than JD. I believe in supporting local businesses as much as I can, but just 1 mile away is a TSC store and the manager is a friend. I am sure we could get along well, but we do not have the luxury of dealers like you in our area. I drove 75 miles to get my Kubota and I drive often to do business with him, but many times it is just too convenient to go to TSC. I will keep in mind the value of all the independent dealers in the future.

Around here for KK TSC is it, as far as I know. My dealer and other dealers I have been to don't think you can get a decent tiller for less than $2000, and they don't stock "junk" like KK.

They also don't stock bucket forks for a small tractor such as the B2710, saying it doesn't have the power to utilize them. I ordered a set from Blue Manufacturing and they are great. And, the tractor just happens to have plenty of power to do what I need to do with the forks.

So, I don't trust what dealers tell me. I have learned on my own.

It would be very unusual for me. None of the four dealers I shop at carry KK and I was under the impression that dealers carry other brands... TSC carries KK. I thought maybe they held exclusive rights to the distributorship.
Interesting to hear they don't.

I think you are getting bent for no reason really.

I believe Henro hit the nail on the head. TSC is a chain store. There are quite a few places/cities I've been thru, and not seen a tractor or farm 'independent dealer' anywhere.. but there is a TSC on the main drag.. etc.

It's just a convienient 'suggestion'. It hink you'll find that most people will shop wherever they feel they are getting the best deal. So if you have as low or lower prices.. you shouldn't be worried. Then again.. the more handy types my 'do their own warranty' work as you say.. and hit TSC.. if their price ends up being cheaper.. say due to a sale or coupon.. etc. HArd to get around that.

While on the subject of value priced equipment.. don't forget Howse. In fact.. most of the independent tractor dealers around here sell howse as a price counter to KK/TSC. At least one of them even has some of the howse HD line.. Very decent equipment in my opinion. Lots of 3rd brands too.. kodiak.. etc.

Take note that I recommend people interested in KK go to the KK site and locate all the dealers near them!!!!
I have had mostly good experience dealing with tsc.. I think locally the quality of customer service has really dropped at tsc in the last couple years........Seems like they used to employ men and now mostly boys....Just an observation....
