I mowed my pasture for the second time yesterday(approx.4 acres). My problem is I have a heck of a time with the mower hitting my rear tires in rough or uneven areas.I have a Kioti DK40 and a KK 5' rotary cutter. The tractor can handle the mower easily except I have to constantly watch how high I lift the mower.Luckily my pasture is pretty clean and only has a couple of small slopes.Any info. or suggestions will be appreciated.Tires are R4's.

Does your 3pt hitch have sway bars? If you tighten them up it will remove the excess side-to-side movement in the hitch.

Mswanson,
I have the sway adjusted to near zero side to side movement. It just seems like the mower is too close to the tractor.Maybe it is one of those things I will have to live with.If my 3pt lower arms were about 6" longer I doubt if it would be a problem.

Mike, if you could post a picture we could probably better address the problem. ... you'll have to register first though.

I would love to see a picture myself.. As I have a 5' KK kutter and am leaning towards a DK40. I'd have to lift the kutter high at times too to traverse drainage ditches on our property.

Just a thought.. But if longer arms aren't a possibility, what about one of those quick-hitch deals? I think they move the implement about 5" out.

I just registered today so pictures will have to wait a day or two.I found yesterday with the toplink shortened I could lift higher but the mower would dig in at the front. If I lift the mower more than a foot or so it comes in contact with the rear tires.dmuench you will really like the DK40 I'm glad I got the extra HP 30-35 would probably have been plenty but it is always nice to have a little extra.

I have a JD4100 with R4 tires and a JD413 48" cutter. If I don't carefully adjust my turnbuckles to center the mower between the wheels, the R4s will rub on the side of the lower arms when the cutter is fully raised. There is only about 1/2" or so of clearance if correctly adjusted. I can obtain more clearance if I close the lower arms after the cutter is mounted. But usually don't do so.

It is the deck of the mower hitting my tires I do have the sway taken out of the picture with the side turnbuckles.

O.K., I must have missed that part. Mine is pretty close but doesn't hit the tires.

Micheal D:

There have been a previuos thread or two, addressing this sort of problem with King Kutter rotary cutters. Apparently some people have had to move the hitch pins down to the lower frane mount holes. Try a search, you should be able to turn up something.
