I am considering ordering a KK XB series Bush Hog for use with a BX2200. Problem is I have to order sight unseen. I'm wondering if this unit has an access hole in the deck to make it easier to change blades (I understand some brands do and some don't). I'd also like to hear from anyone who has used this unit with the BX2200 in regards to if the unit hooks up easily to 3PH without modifications etc. Also how well unit performs. Any assistance would be appreciated.

I'm also interested in information about rotary cutters for the BX2200. I've searched the archives faithfully, but most of the previous posts deal with somewhat peripheral data. I would appreciate any description of personal experience with 42-48" rotary cutters by King Kutter, Woods, Land Pride, Gearmore, and Bush Hog. Ease of attachment, necessity for modification, strength, durability, efficiency, and price (low, medium, high). I plan to use mine for grass, weeds, and brush on somewhat hilly terrain. Thanks for any info.

I don't see how you can say that recent threads on this subject are peripheral???????? Anyway, the XB cutter is lighter duty than the KK standard cutter. The XB should fit without modification. The 40 inch or 48 inch KK standard cutters can be used on the BX but will require dropping the pins to the lower bolt hole for the top link frame and turning the pins inward--both fairly easy to do. I think if you intend to mow grass with the XB cutter and light thin twiggy brush it will do fine. If you plan on hogging some small trees and such you better get the 40 inch. The BX is fairly muscular but it will run out of power in the heavy brush with the 48 inch standard cutter but that is not the best use of the BX anyway. It was asked if the XB cutter has a stump jumper--- I cannot swear to it but the brochure claims it does. If you get a 48 inch standard cutter you will have to keep the FEL installed or make a front weight bracket. J

Years ago I had a small Massey Ferguson and got a brush cutter w/o a blade access port. I too was concerned w/ removing/sharpening the blades which I expressed to the dealer. He motioned me over to the boom poles and said with one of these, access to your blades is no problem. So I bought a boom pole. He was right, just loop some chain around a convenient point on the brush cutter and you can lift the cutter vertical for easy blade access. Just secure the cutter so it can't fall on you before working on it. That boom pole was handy for many a chore.

If all you cut is grass, which would probably be a good idea given the light duty nature of the XB then you might never have to sharpen the blades. Bush hog blades are very different from finish mower blades in that they are blunt to start with. Have you taken a careful look at the XB? I thought it was a long way from the quality and good looks of the BX.
