Knee surgery today caused by getting off tractor

I'll have to have knee replacement surgery. I'm not looking forward to that at all.

Podunk, I would not be looking forward to that myself. However, the good news is that a former neighbor and close friend had a knee replaced on 4/27/04. She was 75 then, 78 now, lives by herself and the way she gets around, you'd never know she had knee surgery.

Inspiring! Maybe by that time, medical advances will have grown to the point where the recovery time will be half what it is today and less invasive.

When I was in SAC my instrument flying training device (Link flight sim) was authorized 3 1/2 men per trainer (sim) For almost 3 years I was all three of those. This was during Viet Nam and SAC soldiered harder than most of the USAF. Remember Curtis "NUKE 'EM" LeMay, SAC commander?

I guess I am lucky, my knees are OK except for loss of feeling from kneeling too much without knee pads. I have to be careful about kneeling on sharp gravel and such as I can do damage without feeling it at all or at least much.

I've just about been banned from the local library as my knees make too much noise when I kneel to examine a lower shelf!

i also had acl replaced and meniscus repaired in 2000. took me almost a year to recover to the point that i didn't think about it every time i played tennis or raquetball. tore the meniscus again in 05 put the surgery off for 6 months or so because i didn't want to go through the long rehab again. had surgery on wed. went to work the next day was sore but never needed the pain meds. went to therapy for 2 weeks and was back on the courts in 3 weeks. walk in the park compared to your acl surgey. hope you have a speedy recovery

There are periscope plans that use salvaged cardboard and a couple cheap variety store (used to be five and dime) mirrors that will let you inspect lower shelves without the deep knee bends. Held upright you can see over crowds at various functions and gatherings like parades etc. Extended sideways you can look around corners without exposing yourself, say if you wanted to know if the coast was clear to carry in your latest yard sale treasure/tool without close marital supervision/interrogation.
