Was working in the woods this weekend and ended up knocking a light off the ROPS. Branch pushed out of the way by the FEL swung back and blasted it. Was left hanging by the wiring. Fortunately, the ROPS took the blow and I was left fairly unharmed in the seat. I was able to put it back on by pressing the nut inserts back in the plactic housing and remounting it.

These seem to be designed to fail... Has anyone fabricated something to give these guys a little protection? Or should I just unwire them and move them to the inside of the ROPS?

Thanks,
Doug

I disconnected mine and put them in a box in my garage. ...haven't had one get damaged since. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

There are lots of discussions regarding how things could be improved/protected better on our tractors.

I'm afraid however; anything that's swinging that hard and that close to me might indicate a little more caution due on my part. You can really get hurt on these machines, even dead. They will take you into danger in a matter of seconds, please be careful.

I'm still trying to knock the first one off my rig. Do I have to use the tractor to do that? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

No, your trees just have a low batting average. Don't they play for the Texas Rangers? /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Jim thanks for starting my day off with a laugh.

That certainly was one of the dis-improvements NH came up with in the new DA series. I doubt if there is any way to go back to the mounting they used on the D series, but if not, I think I might opt for a fender mounted lamp.

Now that was funny.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I guess storing the lights in a box also solves the glare problem. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
