Knocking mh 50 Massey Harris

Rebuit this engine and have not used it a lot , started it up today it made a bang when trying to rev engine up to back out of the barn. I could not rev engine after that , no reaction to the throttle lever . Could this be the govenor ? Engine is not missing but their is a knock .

Hard to say but I would not run it until it was fixed. Knock = damage.
