Consumer reports has done several tests on interior and exterior paints over the years. If you're a member you can go online and read the ratings. The summary is that many of the "non-professional" brands do as good or better job for far less money. I think that some of the top rated have consistently been Sears, TruValue, Walmart (which I think they said is made by Glidden), Ace. Most of the brands carried at professional paint stores did as well or slightly better, but the addditional cost seemed disproportionate.
