Are there any replacement engines out there for the kohler k161t engine

I bought a Horse with a blown 8hp Kohler Magnum, I replaced it with a 95.00 212cc Predator engine from Harbor Freight so I could use it until I get the Kohler rebuilt.The Predator engine bolted right on. The bolt pattern should be the same as your 7 hp Kohler. I have about 15 hours use on the tiller so far. The engine starts very easy and has plenty of power for the tilling I've done.I also know of someone else who put a 5 hp Briggs on his Horse, but I'm not sure if any modifications for mounting were needed, but it seems to work fine down here in the south without clay or rocks.

Thanks for the info. I went back through the past threads and found the info on the preditor engine. Bought one at HF for $119.00 plus another $20.00 gave me a 2 year warranty. You are right the engine bolted on without mod and runs great. The engine requires 1/2 qt of oil. I put in 3/4 because the engine sets at such a great angle when you till deep. I think all of the origional engines might have starved a little for oil as the oil slinger on the end of the connecting rod is almost out of the oil when its tilted to such a angle sharp angle. The day after purchasing the preditor engine from HF I found a brand new grayhound engine new still in the box for $80.00. Go figure. I bough it any way for a cheapo spare if I ever needed it.
