I have a bolens HT-23 with the horizontal twin Kohler K582 engine (23 HP)
It's getting difficult to start at times. I'm concerned about the ignition coil arrangement, as it uses one coil to fire both cylinders with a "wasted spark" philosophy. Of course that means one cylinder spark plug always jumps "the wrong way".
I have been of the habit to swap the plugs between heads with the changing seasons, but when winter comes, sometimes that's not good enough. I've got lots of "good used" spark plugs in my bins.
Has anyone come across an ignition upgrade for these single coil /points condenser flywheel magneto systems? I'm thinking "just add a second coil" and get the polarity right, but I have no map in this new territory.
Any ideas?
