hi all, seems like a good forum with a lot of experience.
just what i need ,so here is a question with a bit of history added in.
an old freind gave me a 14 tonne d50 dozer,[komatsu] built around 1966 from what i can gather,he paid 30 000 pounds for it then.
anyway the motor is really shot and as luck happens a freind also gave me a ford lehman diesel of similar horsepower but revs around 2000 rpm,the original 4 cyl d 120 had a max of 1200 rpm.
anyway as the bell housing on the ford is 10 mm or 3/8 too small to fit the original twin plate hyd actuated clutch assembly that was in the dozer onto the ford, im considering a dry type ex truck clutch to drive the 3 speed dozer transmission or should i say gear box.
so what are my chances do you think,
i only will use it for myself clearing a small acreage mainly in low gear.
the clutch i intend to try is off an old international 6 yard truck powered by a v8 petrol.
so come on fellows call me a stupid penny thrift,
or tell me that the idea might even work.
