The 3 cylinder Yanmars are a very common engine. I have a 3TN72NA in my Takeuchi excavator. They were also used in JD diesel compact/lawn tractors, road side sign machines, semi trailer refrigeration units, etc. Of course they were used in Yanmar tractors. So I would contact somebody like HoyeTractor.com or fredricksequipment.com and let them help you cross reference the parts kit to your engine. I've had good luck with my local Takeuchi dealer and the prices are lower sometimes than the John Deere dealer. BTW there is a cylinder head on ebay for $199 (just in case yours is cracked).

I have seen alot of 3TN listings around, but are the engines all the same as far as internal parts? My first big hurtle was trying to make sure the 3D72-2B was truly in fact a 3TNA72. I still haven't confirmed that. I wish we had a pile of equipment dealers and repair shops around here, but the ones I have contacted are the only listings I could find in a town 40min away. Our small town only has one of those over-priced Ford tractor shops that will never admit anything comes from overseas.

I took a look on Ebay but wasn't able to find any heads. I tried searching 3TNA72 and 3TN. Did you happen to see an item number?

Once I find out fure sure what all the numbers are and possibly a place that will offer some repairs, I would feel like I used to about my old Yanmar and Hinimoto tractors where I knew where to find everything anytime, but for now I feel like the moron that doesn't know squat lol.

I found one machine on the entire net that looks just like mine. It is listed as a Komatsu PC05-5 1986 model. I will try to add a pic of it and one of mine so you can see what I'm working with.
Anyone know of a good place online to find parts, parts diagrams, manuals and just good views of Komatsu machines like these?

The blue one is the machine I have. Let me know if anyone has anything like this or has worked on one. Thanks guys

I would start looking in the world of trucking. ThermoKing refer unit parts may be a lot easier to find, assuming that engine was in one of their standard models. There must be thousands of refer units out there for every Excavator.

Never really thought of a refer unit. I guess once I get the big question of if the komatsu 3d72-2b is the same as the yanmar 3tna72 then it will be easier to begin looking. I haven't found a single person who owns a komatsu that can tell me anything. The dealers act like its top secret or something and don't even tell me if they can get parts with me using their oem number. Its like a headache that just doesn't go away lol.

I believe i have two of these engines that came from a shop that closed down both are missing the starters. i want to get one running and i will part out the other. if they are the same as yours i can provide you with a head

If you are still around and interested, a JD 455 garden tractor uses the 3TNA72 engine. a little detective work might you on the right track.
