First, it is spelled with a K but everything I have found is spelled with a C. No biggie but kind of frustrating when trying to troubleshoot.
I am not out at the house so I don't have the model number available but it is the 4' tiller. Yesterday while breaking new ground the outer side case seal blew. Most of the oil leaked out onto the top of the unit. I can't find any solid help on my own, so here I am. The unit was bought at TSC in Ohio and was at a discounted (used) price.
All maintenance has been kept on it since we have had it, fluids maintained and checked before each use. There has been no issues before this other than tightening a few bolts on the case after we filled it for the first time. The tiller is used the most (approximately 1 hr) tilling our food plots. The rest of the time it sits. So the following are a few questions.....
1.) Who actually made this tiller KK or Tater? Will the model # tell us this?
2.) What could have caused the seal to go bad? I know the unit does not come filled from factory and can't say it had correct amount in it from previous owner.
3.) What do I need to look for, as far as damage to the gear/bearings when replacing the seal?
4.) Why does the manual say to contact TSC for parts but TSC says to call the manufacturer?
Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any info. I will answer any and all questions.
