Another Newbee arrives. I've had a YM2000 for a couple of months now and just got a Koyker 120 to put on it, with a joystick control. I have most of the install done, but there is a line for a return that the directions say to hook to a return port directly beneath the seat. The only thing I see in this location that makes sense is the raise lower speed control. There are two large plug bolts on each side. Anyone have a good location for the return port?

Thanks

Welcome Jerry,

Your controller only needs to be plumbed on the "IN" and "OUT" ports to the PRESSURE side of your hydraulic lines.
No return line is required as your controller is now tapped into a continuous loop of the high pressure line only.

The simple diagram at Hoye Tractor that Mark Stewart provided, is probably the best and easiest to follow. Good luck,

Mark

I looked that page over and thought it was going to be easy but when the loader arrived the instruction sheet for the hydraulics painted a different picture. The instruction sheet title says it is for a Yanmar 2000, and specifies a return line.

Thanks for the help.

Thought I should be more specific so please forgive me if this is too redundant. The instruction sheet gets to step 4 and says " Then install an adapter (part#6) and another adapter (part#7) into the return port which is located directly underneath the operator's seat on the RH side. Next attach a 90 elbow (part#8) onto the adpaters.............." The title is "669239 Hose Kit Instructions for Yanmar 2000". I just want to be really sure of this because I've read what happens if there is a dead end!

Thanks again,
Jerry

Either or both could be return ports; HOWEVER, where did you connect to the pressure side? I am concerned that if you cut the Hi-pressure line as the Hoye diagram (and most of us have done), then you could be starving any down line components. Read the 3PT.

If you have a separate Hi-pressure source, then I would recommend opening each bolt, tractor off ofcourse, and see if they are just entry points to the xmission reservoir. That is what you are looking for. If so, whichever your components fit is the one to use.

Jerry,

I have done a few FEL installs on my tractors...the last was one with a Sauer Danfoss twin control (not joy-stick). I called the manufacturer and told them that the application was for a Yanmar and he said the return line should NOT be utilized.

I have another FEL I installed on a YM 1610D. No return line, and no noticeable difference in the FEL, 3PH operation or shuttle shift pump in the transmission....it all works perfectly in unison.

I can only suggest a call to Koyker and ask them if a return line is specific to your model, as Yanmar in general doesn't usually require splicing into the low pressure return.

I got it working today with the return hooked into the valve body underneath the seat like Koyker instructions had it. The adapter they provided was a perfect fit. I don't think this return comes into play until you use the FEL. Instead of routing it back to the high pressure line to the 3 point. Reading the docs, they call this power beyond setup.
So what I ended up with is the usual splice in the high pressure line. The output from the pump goes to the bottom of the joystick. A line comes out the top of the Joystick and goes to the high pressure line to the 3 point. The 3rd line comes out a port on the side of the joystick and goes to the valve assy under the seat. When I ran it, everything worked and the 3 point with my box blade stayed up. Now all I have to do is figure out how to fasten the hoses down so they don't get damaged... I think

Thanks again

Jerry

Congrats! U'r right watch the hoses & enjoy U'r new best friend. FELs are awsome helpers.

If you've use quick disconnects in the plumbing so the FEL can be removed easily, remember you have to have a bypass hose connected to the pressure lines on the tractor side when the engine is running. There has to be continous flow in the pressure line or you'll blow the pump in very short order. My Koyker has a decal showing this requirement and is placed near where the pressure lines are mounted on the loader frame.

My FEL is plumbed like what you've done, 3 lines, 2 pressure lines and a return line.
