I have just started to look at tractors for my wooded 20 acre property, and the Kubota reputation plus their cool 0% for 60 month financing has got me very interested. The 0% financing deal ends on 9/30/2011 though, and at first I thought I'd have to hurry up and make a quick decision on model, features, etc. Then I ran across an old thread from Feb 2010 talking about a 0% Kubota deal at the time.

So...is the 0% deal generally offered by Kubota every year? Or just in these bad economic times? I don't think I will use the tractor that much over the winter, so I'd be just fine waiting another six to nine months on this purchase. (Regrettably, I suspect the bad economy will persist at least through 2012... :) )

thx,
Jay

Most manufacturers find they have to stay in line of everyone else or close to stay in business.

Kubota has consistantly offered variations of the 0% now for a while. Some manufactuerers do end programs the first of December do to tax time buying although depending on field inventory some manufactuers try to do the binge build and distribution.

Some companies build to many or are trying to buy market share with low rate financing deals. Kubota is the one that has the market share, so they only offer it up to maintain their market share.

So will Kubota keep the 0% probably.

Awesome, thanks Art.

If it turns out to be not true, I can see myself down at the dealer next spring: "...but Art on TBN said..." :)

With real interest rates near zero anyhow, it is much more a promotional, marketing thing. Checked your passbook rates lately? ;);)

Then, there are "fees" or buy downs sometimes attached to getting the "zero". A year or so ago, there were no fees, no particular discount for cash. Lately, there has been a difference in the cash price and "zero" financed price.

Hope that helps.

It does vary. WHen I bought it was 42 months at 0% and no fees.

0% for 60 months was available June 2010, & I opted for it.

Out of curiosity, what is the "cash" price vs. the incentivized rate price?

That depends on the model, a M-126 is at 2,500!
Smaller tractors are normally about a grand.

My dealer told me there was no difference, but I never seriously considered paying cash so can't really confirm that.

Of course, you have the insurance issue also: Pay cash & you're can opt to not insure your new tractor; Choose the 0% financing & you must either provide your own insurance (whether by separate policy or possibly under your homeowner's policy) or purchase Kubota's KTAC insurance, which I did for $1,313 total for 60 months full coverage.

bp, I used to joke that Kubota hadn't Americanized as they offered no cash discounts a few years back.
They wondered about massy and a few others that were offering 0% for 72 months. Kubota may not offer 0% for 72 months like some of the other companies but the monthly payment can still be lower!!!!!

Pricing gimmicks I've seen in the past include a free mower or loader. Some offer free first service or extended warrantee. A dealer can price it any way.

I have a chart on my desk that no matter what the good rates are we can make them better with a quick adjustment in the initial price if used.

Most companies charge for the paper work today for the financing of a product so that has become normal.
