Greetings, Gentlemen.
One month ago I purchased a brand new Kubota 2110 with snow-blower installed and 54in mower deck delivered to my backyard shed for storage over winter. The engine has 1.2 hrs on the clock.
Problem: After delivery, the tractor was parked in my garage. Garage has a new, concrete floor. I noticed oil stains under tractor. Dealer's rep attributed leak to valve cover gasket. Gasket is an O-ring and sits in groove in the cover. The dealer ordered a new valve cover, new bolts [bolts have a boss that prevents over-tightening] and a new gasket - all of which are still on order. I am afraid of running the engine for fear of drenching it with more motor oil that will mess up my garage and macadam driveway.

Question:
Has anyone here experienced a similar oil leak with a brand-new purchase? Kubota is reputable. Engine is Japanese. I have mixed feelings. I am not perfect. Manufacturing/assembly mistakes do occur. But this is big bucks. I feel dis-illusioned. What would you do in my situation? With such a great first experience, what else lies ahead? Guess I'm mad. Please help!

Thanks.

Any moisture (engine oil) around the valve cover gasket or elsewhere?
Of course, the 2100 and 2110 engines are quite dis-similar.

I have no argument with my rig except that oil drips bug the heck out of me when they land on my recently resurfaced garage floor.

How did the dealer or the factory respond to your transmission issues?

As far as I know, the engines on the 2100 and 2110 are viriutally identical. Both are 21 HP disels. As I said, i've had no problem with mine.

The tranny is another story. On the eariler models, Kubota extended the warentee to 4 years/500 hr for certian parts of the transmission. My leak was not related the known problems they have with these units but they still paid about half the cost of the repairs.

Is the dealer's rep a mechanic? Did he actually look at the machine or diagnose over the phone? Sounds strange to order a new valve cover without removing the old one to see if there's anything wrong with it, or did he do that? At least you're getting a response, that's a good sign. My brand spanking new FEL came with a bad control valve, so I know how you feel. Dealer sent a mechanic out to diagnose the problem, had to come back a few days later with a new valve. But they fixed it pronto, no hassle.

I know how it feels to have a brand new machine with problems. I noticed an engine oil leak from my B3030 the first week I had it. Turned out to be leaking from the rear crankshaft seal. Kubota put in a new engine in the tractor, since they felt there could have been a flaw in the crankshaft.

I was very happy with the support and service I received from my dealer and kubota. My dealer insisted I borrow a B21 to use while mine was in the shop. I used the B21 for three weeks and put 29 hours on it of mostly backhoe work.

Hopefully, your engine issues won't be as bad, but the level of service will be just as good as mine.
