CT225 Bobcat with Loader and R4's
trying to narrow down a tractor, both with a FEL there is a $3500 price differnce between the bota and the cat. the bota dealer is closer but 3500 can pay for quite a few trips. looking to mow, bush hog, and clear out some woods. anyone have an arguement past price?
also I realize the bobcat is a rebadged kioti, but i havent found much against kioti.
thanks

I think orange is just better looking than white? Which may help resale.

I would have to say that bobcat has done a great job of backing up every piece of equipment they have ever sold. But don't let 3k keep you from the tractor you want either, buy the one you like the best.

I agree with resale value but plan on having it awhile, but $3K is hard to overlook and get past the wife

Both machines are good machines, in my opinion you need to make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Look at the features on both units, hydrostatic or gear on both machines? position control or quarter inching on both machines? telescopic ends on both machines? I also think the FEL is free on the Bob Cat, this may be where the $3500 difference is. The Kubota will probably weight less than the Bob Cat this is a consideration if you are going to use the tractor to mow your lawn. The heavier unit will be of value when using the bush hog and other ground engaging implements.

well after looking at both machines nearly side by side, the bobcat is a larger machine with a couple more horses, like the lay out of the controls, and the tilt steering option. but concerned it may be to heavy for the yard. but like a kubota salesmen pointed out to me if you drive it hard into the corner no matter what the weight it will tear up the edge. i think the added weight would work out well in the woods and working with all implements short of the mower. and at $3500 less the bobcat seems to be the better deal, not worried so much about resale at this point. I usually keep things a while, have had the wife for almost 17 years and got her without considering resale at all.

does anyone see any flaws in this logic?

nope. But given the bobcat is a rebadged kioti, maybe post on the kioti forum if you haven't done so? I've been pleased with Kubota, but it seems like Kioti owners are pleased as well.

Am unable to comment on resale value of wife, but judging from my current circumstances, upfront cost is high. Suggestions on my part to skip wedding and buy a boat or tractor stuff have not been well received - maybe I'm not saying them right... :p

$3500 is a lot of dough......
Bobcat while being new to the CUT market, has a good service footprint nationwide and since their tractors are rebadged Kioti's, the tractors have been around awhile and have a good reputation as well (as Kioti's that is).
I much prefer a lighter machine for finish mowing and since additional weight can be easily added, most times by adding an implement, the lower weight of the Kubota is a non factor in ground engagement.
My Kubota has been trouble free for over 4 yrs and nearly 400 hrs BUT, that big a dif in price would have me looking long and hard at what Bobcat had to offer.

That free loader on the Bobcat has to be the difference....

Good luck

I don't think anyone has much negative to say about the Bobcat. I like my Kubota and liked my B7800. Just make sure you get what you want don't let the money be the deciding factor. You don't want to decide that you picked the wrong one 6 months from now and be stuck with the tractor for the next 20 years.

The CT225 does not compare to a B series tractor at all. You should be looking at the L series if you are comparing something to that sized machine. The Bobcat out weighs the Kubota by 1,200lbs. Look at the L2800, L3400 or Grand L 3240 if you want to compare the Bobcat to a Kubota machine.

i would buy the bobcat and buy a mower. you can get into a ZTR for the money you'll save
