I have a 2001 L3010D 4 wheel drive tractor with shuttle shift transmission. The 3 point hydraulic piston and rod was replaced after the first time it was sold by the Kubota dealer. It was then sold to the second owner who sold it to me with the pretense of having a warranty. We were using the front end loader to move some wood chips. We heard a load pop and discovered the whole rear differential casting was busted by pressure from the inside. The tractor has been used about 400 hours. We found through another Kubota dealer about the previous repair and they had only given the second owner a 6 month warranty. A Kubota dealer in Alabama contacted us about our inquiry over the internet. He stated that if the tractor was not correctly repaired that the hydraulic piston and rod would create extreme pressure from the inside and bust the housing. I believe this tractor has a built-in defect and the dealer who attemped the repair will not send us a report as to the the repair performed. I would like to hear from anyone who has had a similar problem with their Kubota tractor.

If the tractor is still in warranty, any good Kubota dealer will fix. As to cause, the "feedback" rod is not adjusted properly. When adjusted correctly, the rear lift arms should stop when the control is at top, and the lift arms should still lift manually 1/2". If adjusted improperly, you will still hear the engine powering the hyd. lift when the arms are at the top. This item is on the predelivery check list and any good dealer checked it prior to sale. This is why some dealers sell cheaper than others.

Just heard from Kubota Corporate Offices. They acknowledge the tractor was sold by the Hillsboro dealer. Their claim is that the tractor has not had any warranty work performed on it. And since the warranty had expired (the original and the 6 month warranty given to the second owner) there was nothing coporate or the dealer was going to do to assist us in this repair.

I still contend the busted differential housing was caused by excessive internal pressure exerted by the 3-point hydraulics against the dog bone, thus pushing out the back of the differential housing. According to statements made by the Hillboro dealer to another dealer, Hillsboro did work on the 3-point hydraulics, but we have yet to obtain a copy of the repair order to see what was the original problem and what was done to repair it. Whatever was done by Hillsboro, they did give the second owner a 6 month warranty. The second owner states that Hillsboro worked on the tractor for him because the 3-point was slow to raise the mower deck. He also states he was sure he was given a 1 year warranty. Further conversations with persons knowledgeable about Kubotas reveals there are many other tractors that have had this problem. If the feedback rod is not adjusted properly or if the pressure bypass valve was not replaced when the hydraulic pump was worked on will result in this calamity. A Dallas area dealer has a mechanic who stated he has worked on two tractors that had this problem at a cost of $4,600 each to repair. My contention here is that the Hillsboro dealer did work on this tractor and they did not make a complete repair. The corporate and dealer's claim that this occurred out of warranty does not stand with me as the third owner due to the fact that the Hillboro dealer did make a repair to the exact component that failed after only 47 hours of usage. The repairs made by a Kubota dealer must be reliable with an expectation that a failure like this is not going to happen as a result of their work. I expected better than this from Kubota since it is an obvious defect in material and workmanship. I'm not looking for a freebie, all I'm asking for is some assistance.
