I just purchased a l245dt with a hitch mounted backhoe. There is a aluminum block with valve attached to high pressure line to 3 point hitch. It controls whether the hitch or hoe is powered. It is bent , damaged mand leaking. Can I cut the lines, add a selector valve such as prince ss2a1e and use it in place of the current valve?

You probably can if you know exactly what the current valve does. Is it a simple valve that just switches from the BH to the 3pt? If it is broke and beyond repair, you could replace it with a new valve block. You could perhaps replace that valve with an open center valve with PB. The PB out would go to the BH, and then to the 3pt.

Thanks for the response. I have been told by several Kubdota dealers that the block valve is no longer available. I am an ex car mechanic but not too familiar with hydraulics. The pressure line from the pump goes the 3pt hitch in one position and to the backhoe in the other. One switched to one position the other attachment will not operate. The backhoe has a hydraulic line that goes from the valve back to the transmission case. My thoughts are to cut the pressure pipe and use it as the feed to the slector valve, then connect one port to the hitch and the second to the backhoe. I understand that I will only be able to use one item at a time and that is okay.

If you replace the broken valve with a new open center valve, you should be able to operate both if the valve upstream is not using all the fluid. With all levers, and all valves in neutral, you should be able to select any valve. If you have 10 GPM flow, and one valve is using only 5 GPM, then 5 GPM is available downstream.

Just add the new valve in series with the cut pressure line. Pressure line to IN port of new valve, and PB out will connect to the BH IN port. From the BH valve, PB outlet to the 3pt. BH tank/OUT port would to reservoir.

Does your BH stay connected all the time, If not, then you could install a set of QD's for the BH.

Thanks JJ. The hoe already has quick disconnects. Currently I can only use one at a time so I assume what is on is not open centered. I already ordered the diverter valve and it is not returnable. Can I use the valve or will it cause problems. I hate to spend money I don't need to. I wish I had found this site before I was so impulsive. John

Hello again, The valve is a Prince SS2A1E manually operated valve. I has 1 port in and 2 out. Pusing the lever foward opens one port and pushing it back opens the other. Thanks again.
