Kubota 40 series, A simple seat squeak fix with option disabled

Does your seat in the 40 series tractor squeak over every turn and bump? Are you wondering why in your quite cab, the seat makes so much noise? Do you use the three position angle seat option? If you don't use the very slight useless turn of the seat.
Remove these four nuts, then remove the four spacers and re install the washers and nuts. You won't be able to turn the seat anymore but you can operate the tractor in peace. The thin washers that Kubota uses bend just right once the spacers are removed and fill the slot to prevent any noise or side movement.
You may be able to temporally get rid of the noise another way, but since I have no need for the slight turn of the seat left or right. I did it the easy way.

Good idea.

I didn't know exactly where it was coming from. So I sprayed garage door lube under the seat. Has worked for almost a year now.

That didn't work well for me, the seat seems much more stable now, it doesn't wiggle, squiggle or squeak.

You could add Teflon spacers under the washers. Since mine is an open station it's not an issue for me.

I don't think it's the spacers, it's just the way its designed, the slop creates the squeak over time. I don't use the turning so, I really like it now that the play is gone. Just don't need that wiggle.

See that welded pin in the middle in the first photo, well the seat just pivots and rocks on that pin, causes it to always be loose it's always loose if it's allowed to turn. Maybe teflon spacers and washers will get rid of the squeak and may take up some slop if you need the seat to turn.

It would be much nicer if it had more of a range. I'm sure it's good for people who have difficulties getting into and off of tractors but I would like it if it would turn enough to easily see attachments behind you. Maybe in a cab it's different but with the open station it just doesn't move enough.

If it bothered me I think I would look into putting a brass bushing on that center post. Those spacers could also be switched to teflon.

It dosen't move much in the cab either, I find it useless. You can turn your body as much and have a stable, noiseless, seat.
