Kubota L4740 HSTC
I recently upgraded from a l4330 to a l4730 hstc. Great machine, now I am turning it into a snow removal animal. I purchased a agro-trend 78" heavy duty 3 point snowblower with hydro shoot control. Now I am working on a plow for the machine. I will be converting a fisher plow with a the universal skid steer attach, I already have hydraulics up-front.

I am seaching for a 7'6" blade and having some difficulty locating on that is worthy of rehab, but have found several 8' ers. The specs on the 7'6" and 8' are as follows:

width, height, guage, trip spings, Width angle LBS
7' 6″ 29″ 12 3 8 1 1/2″ x 12″ 6′ 7″ 637 lbs.
8′ 29″ 11 4 8 1 1/2″ x 12″ 7′ 1″ 717 lbs.

I know the loader capacity is more than capable, but just wanted some feedback of what some "real life" users have experienced.

Thanks

Are your rear tires loaded or will you have the snow blower on the 3pt? The GLs seam real light when lifting weight with the fel unless you have some weight back there. Personally I don't like using a 3pt attachment since I know I would back into something. I do have a 55 gallon drum that full of cement that doesn't stick out too far. Otherwise I would think either one of those blades would work.

I am using an 8 foot western plow modified to fit on a skid steer plate on a 5240. No problems so far. I also used the neighbors modified Fisher 8 foot plow a few times. The loader has no problem lifting the load. You do have to be careful that you don't catch an obstruction with the plow end, but that is the same with any loader mounted plow.

I have used a modified 7.5' Fisher plow on the FEL of my prior JD 3720. The problem is at heavy angle, the blade could push the front of the tractor to the side. This is worse with an attachment on the back. If pushing a full load of snow at an angle the tractor was ok. Snow is across the full width of the blade. If pushing with only 1/2 of the the blade at an angle, the tractor did not have the weight to hold the front. This usually happened after making a pass and piling the snow on one side. If I wanted to push the snow back a few feet more, I was only using the middle to edge of the blade and could have trouble. Worse with heavy snow or slick conditions. Your Kubota will have a little more front end weight. However, you have the blower to move the deep snow.

I now use the snow blade on the front of my Toolcat. It has more front end weight and the blade is closer to the machine. I use the snow blade or pusher on the front and a blower on the back. The combo does make a mean snow moving machine. You will love the combo.

Overall all, the snow blade will work well in most conditions. Just have to be aware of the limitations. I don't think you will notice much difference between 7.5' vs 8' blade. I like the blade to be well beyond the width of the tractor at full angle. Then I can push the snow off the edge of the driveway and yet have the tractor tires on the driveway.

thanks, I appreciate the feedback. Now I just need to locate a blade worthy of rehab.

Radman's response is valid and depending on the amount of snow you wish to push it could enter into the end result!

I have seen it before where the fornt end of the tractor is pushed to the side with snow plows at an angle.

Try and keep the front blade as close to the front axle as possible to reduce the 'rudder' effect as others have already mentioned. I have the oem 7' blade and turf tires, and the only time it pushes the front of the tractor is when the front tires are on ice. I do keep a 1200# ballast box on 3 point, but you should get nearly the same effect from your 3 point snow blower. Philip.
