Was pushing up dirt with my L245DT tonight while pushing under load my front wheels started bouncing and banging. I put it in the shop and pulled off the driveshaft and the splines on the end that enters the front axle are worn down to a beveld end.. Do you think that the pinion spline would be worn off to?? It takes a lot to rip out the front diff to find out so I am hopeing the shaft is the weak link. What do you all think??

This is a complete guess so it may not be worth much. But my L345DT had many splined shafts running from one case to the other with internally splined couplings that were open on both ends. Hollow couplings are easier to make than blind-hole splines. Are you sure there isn't a splined coupling on the pinion you can just pull off and replace? The bigger models are made with external splines on the end of the pinion. This makes sense from a design standpoint because the bearings and case can be smaller. As always, prompt and cheerful refund if info is bogus. Good luck, Dick B

Yup your right I ripped it apart and found a coupler on both ends. The splines on both the coupler and shaft were gone so I just welded the coupler to the shaft and it works great. If it causes any trouble I will just buy a shaft and couplers.
Thanks Bob
