Guys,

I have another question in regards to a 2003 7510 I just purchased. The tractor was bought with no attachments. Someone has given me an old 4' rotary cutter made by sidewhinder. With a little TLC, it has been given some new life. One thing I've noticed when running it on this tractor is when I depress the clutch to dis-engage the cutter, a ticking noise is heard in the rear of the tractor. Sounds like someone is tapping a metal object against the roll bar. I don't see anything loose or haning. The noise is not heard when the shaft is removed form the p.t.o spline.

Has anyone experienced this noise? Side note, this is my first Kubota.

Thanks,
Brady

What your hearing is the PTO clutch. When the speed of the PTO driven implement exceeds that of the PTO shaft,a one way drive allows it to free spool until power is applied to it. Basically it keeps the PTO implement from driving the tractor. If you've ever driven an old "N" without one, you have no idea what a thrill it is and what a great idea the one way is!!! So... the noise is normal.Try slowly throttling down before disengaging the cutter and the sound won't be so pronounced.

Hey,

Thanks for the reply. That makes sense to me. I'll take your advise that next I use the machine. Just wanted to be sure there nothing wrong internally.
