I went out to use tractor yesterday and there was no 3 pt. action. It was as if the lever wasn't connected to anything. Turns out that was the problem as a roll pin worked it's way out of the linkage bracket that connects to shaft going into the 3 pt. control "valve?"... No big deal I thought as the roll pin was still engaged into one side of the bracket. I figured it'd be easy enough to realign the hole in the shaft, reinsert roll pin, and peen the ends slightly so it wouldn't work out again. No such luck as I can't get the hole in the bracket deep enough onto the shaft to align the holes. It appears the shaft is pushed into the case just enough so that I can't reengage the roll pin. It's about a hole diameter off. I tried pulling the shaft outwards by inserting the short end of an allen wrench into the hole in the shaft and tugging on it with pliers. Didn't seem to want to pull out nearly at all. I even removed the thrust washer from between the side of case and end of bracket which gained me the thickness of the washer, but still no go. I can only surmise that the shaft has pushed inwards for some reason and won't pull back out for another reason. Any thoughts on this or has anyone out there experienced the same and if so what is the fix? Thanks!

I realized what the problem is, but I'm not certain how to circumvent it (properly). I was able to slide an awl through the hole in shaft and pry behind it with a 90 deg. offset punch of sorts. The shaft did pull out and felt like it was compressing against an o-ring. Which in fact it was as I could start to see the o-ring bulge around the shaft. But as soon as I quit prying it popped back in again as expected. I ended up removing the thrust washer which gained me a bit, and actually had to grind down the shoulder of the bracket so that the hole was a wee bit closer. In the end it was enough to capture the roll pin which I had tapered considerably on one end. I used a roll pin which was extra long in the event it starts to work it's way out again. So it's working again properly and I suppose it's time to get back to work with it.
