Kubota B1750HST issues

Hello everyone
I was just playing eeerr I mean working with my new to me tractor and. I've noticed a few Issues!

1. I've been noticing the hydrostatic transmission surges in reverse only. Now when I first got the tractor I had added hydraulic fluid to the transmission which I later found out it wasn't the right thing to do. I have the correct oil and filter I'm just waiting on the main lift piston rebuild kit and new o rings for the inline strain filters which I belive there's two of them but im not sure. Other than that it seems to work as it should. I'm hoping that'll straighten out the problem.

2. Every now and again I notice a burning ember coming out of the exhaust. Also maybe every couple of seconds a faint white/grey puff of smoke comes out of the exhaust!:shocked: Im hoping the burning ember is carbon burning off but not sure if this is bad. Again other than that starts right up. Could possibly need a glow plug but I don't think that has anything to do with it. Both happen when hot or cold any rpm. The tractor has about 1200 hours on it.
Any ideas???

Can't help you with the HST issue since I've negligable experience with hydro transmissions. Sounds like new fluids and filters/cleaning of any screens is in order though.

As far as the ember and puff of smoke, I'm thinking the engine's head might be sooted up (previous owner may have let it idle at low RPM for extended periods). Some hard running might cure this. In gasoline engines, you can spray a mist of water...don't know if that would be advisable with a diesel though. I'd run it for a while and see what happens.
You can expect a puff of smaoke now and then...especially if you put a load on the machine.
Again, see if it gets worse, but I suggest you not worry about it at this point in time.

The puff of white smoke happens all the time but very faint I can see it better when its at idle. At my job we have about 23 machines all different makes most of them are 4 cylinder diesels some with 4000 plus hours and none of them do it. I don't think its a big deal but just feel like it shouldn't do it. I just got all my parts from kubota so i'll be busy for a while. Funny story when I was at the kubota dealer the mechanic was walked into the show room and was like thats messed up your wearing a john deer hat at the kubota dealer hey Gary give this guy a kubota hat. I was like I would love a kubota hat!!! Gary laughed and didn't give me a hat! I'm thinking dam it just spent $800 in parts on this visit you can spare a hat!!! Then I got in my truck and felt really stupid for forgetting to take my hat off before I went in. Maybe next time Gary will give me a hat so I won't have to worry about feeling stupid and I know your on here Gary. Thanks Roy
