You've mentioned youve got a shop manual but have you got a parts manual? Download the free parts manual for the B1550HST from here. It illustrates evey part in your tractor. About 300 pages but its only about 3 meg. The diagrams are very useful for seeing how things go together.

Last night i drilled some clearance holes in the frame above the hydrostat (sure wish kubota would have done this). I took the top transmission cover off...everything in there looks good and the hi/low gear works properly. I also checked the shaft that is turned by the foot pedal and it absolutely is turning the shaft going into the hydrostat. I am at a complete loss here....transmission looks fine, linkage looks fine, oil pressures are good. What in the world is going on....

I'm not a certified mechanic but about a month ago my 3 pt arms wouldn't move and it turned out to be where the lever slipped on to the shaft coming from the hydro, a roll pin fell out connecting the lever to the shaft and it was not easy to see that the shaft wasn't turning with the lever. So check to see if there is a shaft hooked to the linkage that might be missing a roll pin? maybe!

Are you saying you actually removed the top cover that contains the dipstick and the filler hole? If so (from what I can see by looking at the parts manual) you should have seen 2 drive shafts coming out of the back of the HST. I think the top one goes to the PTO and should have been turning if the engine was running. (You've already said the PTO's work). The bottom shaft drives the diff and should turn if the HST pedal is pressed. Were you able to see this shaft turning? If not then theres a HST problem. If it was turning then for some reason theres a disconnect somewhere aft of that shaft.

(I'm only guessing here because Ive never taken that cover off myself and dont know what you can see amongst all those gears and oil, or whether you can even run the engine with the cover off.)

As my tractor is 300 ks away its hard to remember what else to suggest. You definately checked the 4WD/2WD lever too? Its not in a neutral position?)

I have a B1750HSDT bought new in 1994 (93?).

No problems with mine but still interested.
