Hello, new guy here. Bought a B21 from a friend a few months back to help clear my dad's 5 acres of property, cars and business. Came with forks, a back hoe, bush hog and a box scrape. Dad passed in October and left a mess.
Quick question is - This thing leaks hydraulic fluid all over the shop. I removed the pan and found nothing but black RTV holding it together, no gasket. I get online and look, and sure enough, no gasket showing up in drawings. I'm really surprised b/c of how the tank is made with a groove all the way around on the inside of all the screws. Am I supposed to fill that groove with RTV (plus a little bit for spreading) and rock on? Previous installer had it slathered on waaay too much. I've been a Corvair guy going on 25 years now so I'm a decent mechanic. I avoid RTV at all costs if possible. I need this thing working and back moving cars, parts and trash!
I only want to do this once so thanks for your time.
(Dad's mess if you're interested - House w/full basement on 5 acres with 60x80 shop w/12' ceilings. I counted 17 cars either running or covered with 20+ in the field(s). 2 tractor trailers full of textile parts. Already carried off 95 tires and 1400 lbs of scrap including a fridge, oven and a dishwasher full of Corvair transmissions and differentials. I see three more fridges and an oven for easy pickin' just to make some room. Took my 4th truck load paper to recycle today. Oldest paperwork found was from 1979 when he started the textile business.)
