Won't start. Pushed forward/reverse pedal with hand to move tractor while seat turned backward using the backhoe. Stalled and would not start even after turned seat back and wiggled pedal up and back. There is a fast hum/rattle from one black relay under the dash cowl. Labelled CA1a-12-a-5 with 4 pins to it. Is there a way to bypass for now? Is it the true issue and should it be replaced? Or is it a sign of something else going bad? Thanks for any help.

First check to be sure PTO is not engaged.

Then make sure operator's seat is seated firmly, so seat interlock is closed.

How old is your battery? Are the battery terminals corrosion free?

Start with the basics.

B26 Operator's Manual should contain some "won't start" troubleshooting suggestions.

Jeff,
Thanks. Yes seat is turned around and switch is flipped on interlock. Can't be sure if that switch is Bad? little corrosion on positive battery terminal but not bad. Will wire brush it and reconnect. Have you ever seen this part go bad?

It does not take much corrosion to drop the voltage which could cause what you are seeing. Check the other end of the cables as well, both positive and negative.

A little corrosion on positive battery terminal but not bad. Will wire brush it and reconnect.

Seat interlock switches get a lot of pounding. They go out of adjustment much more often then they fail. On both my new Kubota's dealer made field calls to adjust seat switches a couple times during the first month of ownership. After six years with second tractor, no further problems.

Hopefully someone will post how to adjust seat switch yourself.

I would buy some specialty spray battery terminal solvent at NAPA or similar auto store to get battery terminals really clean, then after terminals are clean and dry coat terminals and post clamps with dielectric battery grease.

Your LOCATION, Easton, PA, should be a part of your T-B-N PROFILE, like your tractor.

Frank welcome to TBN, check the plug on the bottom of your key switch sometimes when turning the seat around the seat belt hits that cable and it comes partly unplugged, also make sure you are turning the key completely off before trying to restart.

I have had this problem on my BX from time to time. So far all have been related to one of the 5-6 interlock switches in the circuit. W/O a Workshop Manual it is difficult to find them all easily. Two of them (PTO & HST) you have to remove the rear wheels to access. Kubota's attachment/adjustment on those two have a propensity to work loose. I have made a couple modifications to their mounting that has cured the nuisance trips. In 1500 HRs I have replaced both the seat interlocks a couple times. There is no adjustment there. Recommend the WSM to find the rest as BXs have differences from Bs.

HST pedal back to neutral? Had a stick lodge in the linkage once that cause a intermittent no start problem on my B26. The pedal bearing needs a shot of grease once in awhile.
