Hello, This is my first post and am looking for some advice. I am in the market for a compact tractor and have prices on the models listed in the subject. THe b3030 and jd4210 are within a few hundred dollars of each other. The b2630, which the dealer tells me is more comparable to the 4210, is 2k cheaper. These are all equipped with loader, tiller, and brush mower. All hydrostatic. Turf tires on jd, others r4. Dealer won't change tires on 4210 because it is discontinued and new bolt patterns are different. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'd like to welcome you to Tractorbynet, but I don't see how anyone can give you any reliable advice as to which tractor to buy because we don't know anything about you, where you are, what the property is like on which you intend to use the tractor, etc. Personally, I'd have no use for turf tires, so if the ones on the Deere can't be changed, that would eliminate that model from consideration, but that's for my use, turf tires might be right for you. Under the current circumstances, I think the best advice is to buy the tractor you like best from the dealer you like best. They're all good tractors. You might want to consider filling in more information in your profile and tell everyone more about yourself, what kind of tractor work and how much tractor work you anticipate doing, and maybe you'll get some better advice.

Buy the one you like the best. As far as turf versus industrials I don't think it is a big deal. The turfs will work for the most part of what your doing and the industrials won't do a great deal more. With 4 wheel drive you should be ok. Maybe check out another JD dealer to see if he has one with the industrials. But me, I would buy from the dealer you think is going to give you the best service after the sale and the tractor that fits you butt the best.

sorry about the lack of info. I'm a little new at this. I live on 6acres. 3grass and about 3 pasture. The pasture is hilly and mowing with my ztr is a little scary. I would like a tractor that is pretty versatile. Mow the pasture, do some landscaping, move or blow snow, till the garden. thanks.

Also I have been looking at other posts and it seems the l3400 costs about the same. My quotes are in the 19,000 range for the 4210 and b3030. The more I try to research this the more confusing it gets. Is the l3400 a better deal?

You're certainly talking about a bigger tractor, bigger engine (3 cylinder but more displacement and horsepower vs. 4 cylinder in the B3030), bigger tires and wheels, etc. However, I don't think it has some of the "deluxe" features of the B3030, such as tilt wheel, telescoping lower links, cruise, etc. When you say the price on the L3400 is about the same, are you talking about an L3400 with HST transmission or a manual transmission? And yes, if you're new to tractors, it can be very confusing, just as a person who is new to cars finds car shopping confusing. There are just so many makes and models, different features, different options, etc. I think your best bet is to visit dealers, try out different tractors until you find one that just "feels" right to you. Any of them will do what you want to do; bigger just gets the jobs done quicker as long as you have enough room to maneuver a bigger one.

The cost difference between Turf and R4 tires on those models is about $400-600 if I recall, figure that into your pricing.
