Mowing Kubota B5200

I am considering purchasing a B5200 with about 500 hours with a 48" mid mount mower. I have never owned a Kubota and am looking for input. It would just be used to mow a somewhat hilly area. Up and down the hill not across and the rider mower being used currently cannot handle it.

Not a direct comment on the machine your looking at but rather a comment on the hour meters on these machines. I have a early 80’s b6200 purchased new, its hour meter only goes to 999 hours and then rolls back to 0, my machine cut 3 acres a week for about 12 years plus snow duty, it’s been in a semi-retired mode since then it has over 2000 hours on it. I find it ironic that there are so many machines for sale with such low hours?? Pay attention to wear on the pedals and other items hopefully you are dealing with an honest seller, good luck!

I am familiar with the 5200, 6200, and 8200 Kubotas. They are all well designed machines with a long history of reliability.

Some of the older Kubotas have a reverse direction spinning PTO, so that can be a PITA if you use the PTO for other things. I'd want a 4WD for hills, as it provides safe braking down hill and safe traction up hill.

thank you. I didn't know about the reset hour meter or the reverse direction pto. Mainly just to be used for some lawn mowing and maybe pull some firewood around.

I'm not sure on the PTO of the 5200. The 6000 definitely spins backward. These are tough little tractors and tend to be trouble free for a long time.

Make sure to check it out, but I think the PTO direction was "correct" on that series. Those 5200, 6200, and 7200 are the machines that built Kubota's reputation locally.
