b6100
Good evening, this is my first post on this forum. I have here a B6100 that was working great until today. Stopped for a fuel break then when I fired back up the 3ph would not raise. The handle will not go in the lift position. It moves forward and clicks, but thats it. Fluids are find. It feels like there is something broke(keeping it from moving backwards). Anyone had this problem with this tractor? I really don't have the time to take it to the shop, and have the mechanical skills to fix it myself. Just looking for some guidance.
Thanks for any help.

First thing to check is the knob that controls the drop speed. I wouldn't suspect it because of the symptoms but it's easy to check.

Newbury, thanks for the reply! I do not see any knobs or any other levers besides for the 3ph raise/lower, 4x4, hi-lo, idle, and the shifter. What area would the knob be in?
Thanks again

On my 7610 it's centered on the base of the seat about 2" above the floor. Just where your heel could hit to turn it.

Your tractor does not have lowering speed control between your legs in front of the seat. Some Kubotas of that era did have a diverter valve in that location, turning that without the port open would be catastrophic. Your problem has nothing to do with the lowering speed orifice. Either the feedback rod is hanging up in the yoke attached to the lift arm or the linkages inside the control valve have an issue. I would make sure the rod is moving freely in the yoke and the yoke is moving freely in the lift arm. The later will likey be the problem since that piece doesn't have a wide range of motion it will rust up. It will allow the feedback rod to move in one direction but not the other. If that is not the problem and you are mechanically inclined removing and disassembling the control valve to get to the internal linkage isn't that big of deal.

Thanks Brain! It does no have any knob below the seat. I guess thats a good thing?
The linkage moves freely(the bar that is used for the adjustment rod). It moves forward normally, but since the 3ph is all the way down it does nothing. It feels like there is something blocking or jamming up a gear, the lever stops like that position is not there. If I remove the control valve(Four bolts, the lever going into the side), will fluid run out?

The pto and everything else functions as it should.

Thanks for all the help

You will lose a little fluid, but not much maybe a couple ounces, if the 3-pt is all of the way down.

Today I removed the cover to the control valve, the cover that the hand lever goes through. It was clean and free of debris. I could not completely remove the cover because the 3ph was in the way.. So I will have to remove the whole control valve. It is bolted to the side of the rear end. I suppose It is a opportunity to clean the control valve. Before I had any problem, if I tried to place the lever half way it would grind. You could not raise or lower the deck slowly, only at full speed. Is that normal with these?

Thanks again for any help.

Yes there is no position control on that model tractor you are either raising or lowering nothing in between.

Okay, I got the control valve removed. Everything appears to be in good shape, clean and free of debris. Moving freely, etc.

The problem is defiantly in the lever itself and the ball it uses to keep the lever centered when there is no force pushing forward or backwards. When I remove that little ball bearing(if you need me to post a pic of the ball I am speaking of that is no problem) It moves forwards and backwards fully. When the ball is placed back between the spring and the recessed piece that bolts to the lever, it will only move forwards. The ball it self is smooth, round, and free of imperfections. The same goes with the small plate it sits in.

Any ideas? I can't see anything wrong.. I would think if the spring was too stiff to allow the ball to recess it would not move forward or backwards. And it happened all of a sudden, not going from bad to worse.

Here is a few pics. kubota.jpgkubota2.jpgkubota3.jpg
