Hello-

I am considering buying a used B6100DT with a hydraulic snow plow (meaning the plow changes angle hydraulicly) for $3900. It's 4wd and DOESNT have a hydrostatic transmission, which really doesnt matter to me. What I want to know is this:

1. Is the PTO "reverse"? I know "normal" PTOs turn clockwise.. I've heard that old Kubotas turn backwards.

2. What implements are available for this? Backhoe? Front end loader? Flail (the kind that beats grass with chains so no rocks are thrown) mowers?

3. Is it a class 0 or class 1 3 point hitch?

Other than that, is this a good tractor? Are parts available in case something goes wrong?

Thanks for taking the time to help.

TM:

I have a B6100D also.

The PTO turns in the "normal" direction so you have no worries there. It also has a standard Cat1 3PH.

These two answers will pretty much answer your second question as to whether there are various implements available.
The answer is yes - but.
Remember that you only have somewhat less than 14HP available at the PTO and you will have to consider the 3PH lift capacity (I can't remember what it is right now - I'll have to look it up tonight.) I don't know if a back hoe or a flail mower would be too heavy or take too much PTO HP to fit. Also, you'd need to consider where to get the hydraulics to run a back hoe.

As to the FEL, yes, I have a Kubota FEL on mine. It runs off a hydraulic pump attached to the front PTO. I don't know if there are after-market FELs to fit the B6100. But I'd bet that they would cost nearly as much as the tractor.

Is your snow plow front or 3PH mounted? Where does it get it's hydraulic power?

I think the B6100D is a real nice tractor - if you don't try to make it do more than it can.

Parts are available. I haven't had any trouble at my Kubota dealer parts department yet.

From what I've seen, if it's in good condition, $3,900 isn't a bad price.

Hope things go well for you.

Implement Availability: In addition to the information that Bill gave, the only other thing that I would add is that "B6100 Specific" implements (loaders, mid-mowers etc.) will be virtually impossible to find NEW and almost as difficult to find USED. Parts are readily available, however. The 3-point mechanism and PTO are all standard Category "1" so you should find a variety of implements designed for SMALL COMPACT tractors that will work just fine for you (for example, 42" rotary mower; 4' yard box; 48" finish mower).

Over-running Clutch: I am pretty sure that the B6100DT tractor does NOT have an internal over-running clutch; therefore, if you do decide to get PTO driven 3-point hitch equipment you'll want to get an external model (under $100). This will prevent the 3-point equipment's momentum from pushing you around when you depress the clutch to stop the tractor.

That's a good bang for the buck! My L175 doesn't have an over-running clutch, and I know I get pushed around by the wife too much to want any excess that I don't need. That will be a must when I find the tiller I want for the Ol beast.
