I have a 7100 HST and the hydraulic pump is kaput, I want to replace it but the dealer quoted an exorbitant price. I think he wants me to buy a new tractor... I am an 80 yr old stubborn B and do not need a new tractor! I am searching for another alternative, there is nothing else wrong with this machine and we just use it for roto tilling, snow blowing, periodically the front end loader and generally just hauling stuff around my property. No lawn cutting.

Is there a maintenance/repair manual somewhere or some suggestions. Someone else must have had the same problems... Can anyone help?
Thanks!!!

You need to define exorbitant amount. When the pumps wear out on these machines the aluminum housing is what wears and there is no rebuilding them. Putting an aftermarket pump driven off the front of the crankshaft is an option, but I would imagine by the time you bought a pump, made the brackets and driveshaft, and plumbed the hydraulics you'd be near or likely over the price of just replacing the original pump, with fewer headaches.

Hi Brian, thanks for the early reply! The quote was $2,800 and I now find out the replacement pump is around $350! I am sure with the help of a manual and a retired local mechanic the job can be done a lot cheaper than the Quote.

That is exorbitant. The hardest part of that job is the confined space and removing the one stud because there isn't enough room to slide the pump back to clear the stud to get it out. The rest is pretty straight forward. I recommend changing the hydraulic oil and filter and cleaning the suction screens.

Brian

PS. I would likely quote 2 1/2 hours including the hydraulic oil change.
