Kubota b7100 overheating

My B7100 has overheated a couple times -- radiator clogged with dirt and grass.

Anyway it now puts out white smoke in the exhaust and runs poorly.

BUT if I take off or loosen the radiator cap the smoke goes away and it runs OK.

Is this a head gasket or something worse?

I would recommend a compression check of all 3 cylinders first, but it sure sounds like a head gasket issue.

If you are lucky it is a head gasket. More than likely you cracked the head. #2 cylinder from the exhaust valve seat to the precombustion chamber. Nearly every time you overheat one to the point of blowing a head gasket, you crack the head. I've seen a couple get lucky, no way to know for sure without pulling the head. If it is cracked you can see it with the naked eye once the head is cleaned up and you will have to replace it, it cannot be repaired.

So how long will it run this way before it dies completely?

It wont run real long if the head is cracked, the head is spendy but much cheaper than a new tractor or new motor. Remove the head and see where your at. If you do fix it clean and flush the radiator out real good, the b7100's dont have a water pump so they rely on the natural circulation and need to be really clean and corrosion free..........

This is something I've been wondering about a bit. Is there anywhere that a fellow can pull a plug and tap into the water jacket to put a temp guage on these? I haven't looked things over alot yet, but have been wondering a bit. How about an oil pressure gauge?
