Tractor
buying now
I have been looking for a TLB for about 4 months now. I have also looked into new, but would rather spend a little less and go used. I own 4 acres and my dad has 5 that I will being using the tractor on. With the low acreage I am maintaining and I dont want anything very big and less maneuverable. Main reason for the BH in general is some trenching for drain work and a little stump removal. My big question to the smart people on the forum is if this BH is an ok match for the tractor? I dont really want a Sub-compact due to ground clearance and weight, so I have been looking a little bigger than those. what do you guys think? the bh is on a subframe mount.

Mounting a Backhoe on an old tractor, especially a small older tractor, does not seem to work out.

A new Backhoe is very expensive, probably $6000 with tractor hydraulics, which you will never get back.

Somehow a new Backhoe on an old tractor seems to overstrain the tractor hydraulics and lead to an accelerated demise.

I would sell the old rig and use the proceeds on a new TLB or a used TLB sold as a factory unit when new.

Have you considered something like a Potato Plow for just a little trenching?

Do you use the Three Point Hitch on your current tractor often?

This is a unit I am looking at at the moment. I am just trying to find out if the combination works. The BH6000 is already on the B7500, I just wonder if anyone has any experience with a similar combo on capabilities.

This statement should have been your thread opener.

I have just moved onto 10 acres and bought a JD3032E. I have found that I need a backhoe attachment, but I am confused on what to look for. I looked at the Wallenstein (too expensive) so I wondered if there were any other good quality backhoes out there that would fit my tractor. I checked on Woods and Liberty, but are there any other options? Which is better? Do I need a subframe? The guy I spoke to at Liberty said I didn't need a subframe, but I can't afford to mess up my tractor, so I need to be sure. I am a complete newbie here. Can anyone help me?

A subframe is highly recommended. A backhoe can put stresses on parts of the tractor (such as the toplink connections) that the tractor was not designed to handle. There have been tragic stories of those connections failing and the backhoe/tractor folding up with the operator being the middle part of the sandwich.

Woods is a very well respected brand and their backhoes seem to me to be the most common aftermarket backhoes out there. It won't be cheap, but no quality backhoe will be cheap.

Avoid the cheap chinese ones like the plague. You might get lucky and get a good one, but then again you might not.

Hi there FireLT72. I have the newer version of the B7500 the B7510 and just this past summer installed the woods BH6000 with sub-frame. It is a great combination, just remember it is not an excavator. If you take you time you can do alot of ditching. Late summer I installed over 30 ft of foundation drainage around part of the footings of my hose using the BH6000, it worked perfect. The hoe has the power to push the tractor around, so I keep the rpm's low.

Its a good combination.

I have a B7510 and have added a BH6000 with 12 and 16 inch buckets. The combination has accomplished everything I needed. Digging out about 50 yards of drainage ditch. Trenching 200 feet at about 24 inches along the gravel driveway. I have rented mini-excavators and they are certainly much more suited to the job but it sure is nice not having to kill oneself to get the job done and get the rental back on Monday morning
