I am now an owner of a B7800. I got it with a rear finish mower and box blade for $8700. It is used with 25 hours on it. Great deal I think. Anyway, this is my first tractor and have figured most of it out. Only thing I don't know is what the dial in the center of the deck does. Open ----> Close. Can someone tell me what it does?

Yes - you got a good deal - way to go!
The dial adjusts the drop rate of the 3 point hitch.

Have fun - be safe.

If you are referring to the dial between your legs under the seat, it controls the lowering speed of the 3-point hitch.

The 7800 is a great tractor. With only 25 hours, I'd say for $8700 you got a steal, especially w/ box blade and mower. It almost sounds too good to be true. You going to get a loader for it?

Congrats on a great deal on a great tractor!
The knob is what the other guys said.

Indeed a great deal. That could have been priced at $10.5k or better.

That certainly does sound like a steal. I'm curious what year the tractor is and if it came from a dealer or private party? I bought a year old B7800 earlier this year with about 70 hours on it and paid $1000s more. Mine came with an FEL though. Let me know if I should feel stupid...

It is a 2006. I bought it from a dealer. My mother told me her boss went to the dealer with his tractor to get a loader put on it. They talked him into a larger tractor with a loader installed, and he bought an RTV also. They deliver his new tractor and the delivery guy tells him of a repo tractor he picked up that had a loader and box blade on it. He only owed $6000 more. So, I find out about it, go to the dealer and find they only auction repos off and only to certain bidders. I am out of luck. So I see this B7800 sitting there. I ask how much and what the story is. The first salesman says $7500. There are no implements or attachments. He tells me a man came in to put a loader on it and he bought another tractor instead. My mothers boss! So I immediately call him to find out about his tractor and he says it works perfect and he had no problems with it. I ask how much they gave him for it and he says he owed $7500 and they gave him $8000. We went inside and I talked to the owner of the dealership and I tell him that was my friends tractor. I said I was interested in it and he said he could sell it to me for $6000. At this point I am looking for cameras, cuz this must be a joke. I say okay and we talked about a loader for it. A new one would be $3500. I leave with the idea of a tractor with a new loader for $9500. I talked to the dealer the next day and he says they often get used loaders for small tractors with low hours on them (people finish their loader work and trade them in on other implements). So he suggests I wait for a used loader to come in if I had no pressing loader work to do. I can wait for the loader, but need a mower and box blade. I got the box blade (4ft) for $450 and a bush hog 60" finish mower for $1895, and the tractor for $6000. He said the FEL can go for as little as $1500. I have no idea why he gave me such a good deal. I think Karma is giving me another chance. For those of you who know about guitars, I passed up (like an idiot) a 2008 Gibson Les Paul Standard Plus ($2600 new) for $1000. Maybe not, the next day I bought a Schecter Hellraiser ($700 new) for $450. Lady Luck loves me right now I guess.

Thanks - I don't feel stupid, just non-karmic! Enjoy the tractor - I love mine. Spent last weekend skidding some logs out of the woods for firewood. So much fun I did about two years worth. Now if I can just find a snowblower...
