When I was looking for a tractor last year I looked at the
BX23, the 7510 and 7610 with backhoe, the Kioti CK20 with backhoe, and the Massey GC2310. I knew I needed a backhoe and cost was somewhat of an issue for me which was why the CK20 was in the mix. After looking and trying to decide for while I came to the conclusion that the 7510/7610 was more money than I wanted to spend. That left the
BX23, GC2310 and the CK20. I ended up discounting the CK20 for a number of reasons:
- they seemed to be in short supply - I could only find one dealer at the time that had one on their lot.
- I liked the tractor and liked the specs but I did not like the way the bachhoe was mounted on the CK20 - I could not find anybody who had a backhoe in stock mounted so I had to go by pictures, and from what the pictures showed I really did not like how far the backhoe hung off the back of the tractor.
- I also liked the 4pt hookup system for the
BX23 backhoe much better - seemed like it would be a lot easier to swap between hoe and 3pt ( this has proven to be true, I can swap very quickly)
- at the time I could not find a lot of longevity info on the Kioti's
- my previous experience with equipment of all types has taught me to follow the crowd, buying what is the most popular in most cases means you get better support over the long run, more info from the user base etc. The
BX23 meets this criteria.
I have to say that the biggest thing that took the Kioti out of the running for me was the backhoe setup and availability. If I could have seen one in person it might have made me want it more. If the backhoe was more tightly integrated into the tractor and did not have as much overhang I might have spent some more time looking to find one in stock somewhere and might be tractoring with a Kioti now instead of a Kubota.
