Kubota Bx Deck Service

Hey gang, quick but stupid questions. I just finished all my spring service (also my 50hr service) on my BX2370 except one last thing I wanted to run by everyone. My manual says to use SAE90 weight on my 60" gear box on my 50 hour service. Is SAE90 the same as 80w-90? I cant find anything that is just sae90 but I know ive seen SAE30 weight motor oil and such so I wanted to see what you all use and make sure I don't need to keep searching for something different. If 80w-90 is ok I plan on using some walmart stuff I already had on the shelf. It says on the bottle It meets the gl5 criteria so I assume its fine if the 80w90 is ok.

As long as it meets the specified criteria (GL5) it should be fine. I have used an 80W-90 in my RCK60 deck for over 5 years without issue. Synthetic would also be good.

You can use 80W-90 or 75W-90 in the gear box as long as it is a gear oil because you are putting the fluid into a gearbox. I would also go with synthetic too.

Again.. this is another one of my pet peeve with inconsistencies from Kubota manuals. Yes 80 90 is exactly what I use too mower deck but in synthetic form.

I looked for 90w gear oil this weekend for my BX2660's MMM gearbox. No joy. The only 90w gear oil I found was a GL-1 class gear oil at NAPA, and the manual specifies a GL-5 oil. So I just bought some 80w-90 gear oil at TSC and called it good.

I'm going to run this a while and then change it to a synthetic.
