I am looking at the Kubota BX and the JD 4010, any likes/dislikes on the BX's treadal Peadal? I drove one at the dealer and it felt a little akward.

I have a BX, and I have found that the rocker control seems to give alot more control on direction/speed for mowing around obstacles without having to worry about switching pedals.

Same here. I thought I'd hate it at first, I initially wanted seperate pedals like I had on my Cub. But once you get used to it, you'll love it. I can maneuver with my FEL so quickly and easily that it astonishes my neighbors. You'll find over time that you don't have to keep your foot on the whole pedal if you don't need the maneuverability, with the shape that it is, you can move your foot over a bit and treat it like two pedals if you wish.

Now I wouldn't be happy with two pedals.

The pedal works great. It's very easy to maneuver with it.

I've got 100 hours on my BX, and at best I'm 'neutral' on the pedal, I don't love it. But hey, it's just a pedal, not very high on the criteria list (at least for me).

I'm tall (6'5") and I love it. If you have alot of manuvering to do (even just cutting the lawn) it's far easier to rock your foot back and forth that to move your whole leg. (At least that's what I needed to do with the two pedal arrangement)

Thanks for the info. Has any one used a aftermarket tiller on the BX? The dealer told me that they don't work as well on the BX, that I should buy a kubota brand?

So you don't get any ankle fatigue with extended use?

My mother is 4' 5" and about 80 lbs...she spent and bit over hour on it today and it did not bother her. She puts her foot off to the side and drives it like a car. For more leveage, she puts the center of her foot on the top of the pedal.

gejlp, our first Kubota was a B-2150 HYD. It had the treddle style pedal. It took a while to get used to the operation of the tractor, and the movement of the peddle.

That's been ten years ago, since then, we are on our fifth Kubota,I would not be without the Rocker-Style Hyd. Pedal. For a short time we owned a Deere LX-185 lawn mower,it was a good mower, but I could never get used to the twin peddle set-up.

To me,the simple movement of toe-heal is much smoother than moving your foot from side-side....Just my opinion.

As far as a tiller for the BX,any aftermarket unit would work,as long as you stay around 48"-50". Kubota offers a very good tiller, but it doesn't have to be their brand, salesmans B.S. There is a lot of discussion here about the BX and which tiller, just do a search.
