Hello. The mower just stopped engaging the other day after I'd mowed a little over an acre. When I lower the blade and engage the mower it shuts down the tractor engine completely. I've checked the belts and cleaned the mower and everything seems fine. Anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to fix it? Thank you.

Most often this problem is caused by "safety circuits". Seat switch, PTO switch, neutral switch, park brake switch, or such. Each manufaturer uses some combination thereof, whether on or off, to kill the engine when an "unsafe" situation exists. I'd start with the seat switch. and go from there.

Sonds silly, but I gotta ask, did you physically rotate the blades by hand to be sure that a bearing didn't freeze up or something?

Sounds like it might be the seat safety switch. If the switch is bad, the tractor might "think" you are not sitting on the seat and will shut the engine down if you engage the blades.

Try this, while sitting on the tractor start it up and put the transmission gear selector in either high or low. If the engine shuts down, that means the seat switch is bad.

I think you're supposed to engage the blades and then lower the mower instead.
Have you tried that?

Order doesn't matter LB, I just try and engage at lower engine speeds. Sounds more like a switch issue.
