I am considering purchasing a Kabota BX series tractor with a loader and a snow blower. I would like input on which model (BX1850 versus BX2350) to purchase. I have 10 acres (mostly wooded) and mow about 1.5 acres. I have a 500 foot driveway to snowblow (western NY). Is the 18 HP model adequate or should I spend the extra and get the 23 HP??

I don't know if this helps, but I have a little over 5 acres and I opted for the 2230 instead of the 1830. I don't know what the difference is on the current models, but for me, the extra 4 HP was worth the extra $600 I had to spend. I have already found myself pushing the limit to do what I want (pushing dirt and pulling fence posts and stumps). I also live on a pretty big hill and figured the 22 HP engine would fair better over the long haul. Frankly, I think Kubota should sell the BX 18 series in the BX15 size and offer it for a bit less money. To me, once we decided not to go with the 1500, it was pretty much a certainty that we were going to pass on the 1830.

Go for the 2350. If you were to get the 1850 and it failed to be adequate you would probably end up trading it in on a 2350 anyway, that will cost you more then the $600 delta now. Good luck on the purchase.

A 2350 over a 1850 is a no brainer because the 1850 is a smaller frame as well as smaller motor. When I bought my 1830 last year everything was exactly the same except for motor size.
