Kubota bx2200 front axle leak

When i loaded my tractor up yesterday i noticed it was leaking fluid from the seal around where the front drive shaft enters the differental. I was wondering if this is a hard problem to fix. The tractor sat for many years until i bought it last yr with only 200hrs on it so the seals really arent in the best shape. I do have the parts manual for the tractor and see that there is a seal i think it was part 040 or something on that diagram and was wondering if anyone knew if this seal was the problem which im pretty sure it is but more importantly if it was hard to replace. i just replaced both front seals in mine,not hard if you are mechanically inclind,seals were 21.00 each,about 4 hours worth of work

Just be happy you noticed it! i had to replace everything in the front end because there was no oil in the housing so i had to replace all the barring and all that fun stuff! about two days of work.

Could you give some more detail please as I have oil leaking from the same area. When 2 wheel drive is selected the drive shaft has a lot of up and down movement (engine stopped of course). The drive shaft has no such movement when 4wd is selected. Is this normal ?

Turned out to be the front universal joint. The needle rollers had disappeared. The pinion seal was leaking and I replaced it without too much trouble.
New problem is vibration feedback through steering when in 4WD. The pinion shaft has very little play in it.
Does anyone have any ideas as to the cause of this vibration? Thanks.
