Hello

I am currently considering a tractor in the BX2230/B7510 category.
I will equip this with a front end loader, brush hog, and box blade.
On paper, these two tractors appear quite similar, although the B7510 prices out fairly higher. My closet dealer does not have the "BX" license, so I would have to travel an hour further to the next dealer if I went this route.

My question is: "is there a significant difference in these two machines ?" I don't know a whole lot about tractors, and I am wondering if there is something here I'm missing.

Thank you for the much needed help !

The B7510 is larger, heavier, has more lift in both the 3 point hitch and FEL. It also will take larger 3 point attachments.

thanks. O.K., so now this begs the next question: "is the difference worth the additional $$ ?" i.e. does the extra weight, and lift capacity significantly improve the performance of the B7510 over the BX 2230 - or to really see this advantage, would I need to step up to the B3030 ?

thank you

I think to accurately respond, we need to know what intended uses you have and how much of the time will be spent in each. For example, the BX is a GREAT mowing machine, but as stated, can't lift as much with 3PH or FEL.

The larger tractor might not mow as well (maneauverable and quality of cut), but can lift more............

Its a trade off.

As stated what do you need to do? For cutting your Lawn the BX is a better option.

It's hard to say what the primary demand of the tractor will be ..... 10 acres with a small farm -- will do lot's of hauling....... front loader will be used quite often ......... as will the box blade -- 1 acre of finish mowing, but could get a "ride-mower" for this if needed -- definitely will be doing brush hogging ........looking for the greatest versatility in the tractor .........

thanks again !

I would go with the B7510 over the BX2230. The B7510 has higher ground clearance and probably better FEL capacity. For brushhogging the B7510 would be better. I have a Bx23 and previously had a B2410. I miss the position control of the 3 point hitch of the B2410 and the 48" WOODS brushhog I used with it cut better than the WOODS 42" for my BX. The BX seems to mash over the high weeds and may prevent the cutter from working as well.

I wanted the backhoe and for my 2 acres I thought the BX23 would be a better fit. I have a ZTR for mowing. Although I like the BX if I had to do it over again I would have kept the B2410. My BX pedal sticks as others have reported. Never had that problem with the B2410. Also the FEL of the B2410 held more which means less trips when moving dirt or brush piles.

Primary use = finish mower- BX series.
Primary use = "tractor" type work - B series.
Simple /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Actually it's never that simple...

The BX2230 and B7510 are both limited to a 48" bush hog so if you want to run a 60" you'll have to move up to a larger B series.
You may want to check the specs on Kubota's web site to see the recommended sizes of implements for both as I'm thinking the B7510 and BX2230 are rated for similar size implements.

But like's been said, the B7510 has higher ground clearnace and more lift capacity. The MMM is a ground contact mower meaning it rolls along on the ground. This is OK for nice smooth lawns but will take more of a beating on uneven lawns.
Kubota does make a Turf Special edition of the B7510. It has a full floating 60" MMM like the BX has. I believe it also comes with turf tires and is priced lower than a std B7510 w/60" MMM because it's a package deal.

I have a BX23 and I primarily use it to finish mow 2.5 acres and for whatever odd jobs I have. There may come a time where I'll need to finish mow 4 acres and it'll handle it just fine. I've run it all day long mowing and digging and it kept on keep'n on. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
The short coming it has is since it has shorter rear tires it doesn't have the lift height necissary to lift most std Cat 1 3PH attachments. Meaning you'll need to get implements that are sized for SubCuts (which are plentiful from multiple manufacturers).
I have an old potato plow and single disk that I used with my old TE20 but unfortunately my BX23 doesn't have enough liftarm length to get them off the ground so I can't use them with it. A B7510 would probably lift them with no problem.

How your going to use the tractor IS the decision maker.

Good luck

You might want to look at a larger unit like B7610 or B2630 which can handel larger FEL, bigger Brush Hog ect..

I almost hate to add this in, but for me, I'm thinking of someday adding a used utility tractor for bushhogging and keeping the BX for the light duty stuff.

MAYBE there is a business case to buy the BX and have a good used utilitity tractor, say from the 50-70's and a 6 ft bushhog.........
