I HAVE A BX2230 WITH 275 HOURS ON IT AND NOTICE SOME FLUID LEAKING AFTER DOING SOME VIGOROUS BUSHHOGGING. TRAILER IT AND BROUGHT IT HOME AND DECIDE TO GO AHEAD AND REPLACE THE FLUID AND FILTER SICE IT WAS GETTING CLOSE. THEN I REMEMBERED THAT I HAD DONE REPLACED THE FLUID AND FILTER AT ABOUT 150 HOURS WHEN SOMETHING PUNCTURED MY FILTER. SINCE THE FILTER WAS NOT THAT OLD I DECIDED TO LEAVE IT ON. AFTER REPLACING THE FLUID IT STILL LEAKS BAD. I CAN CUT GRASS FOR 30 MINUTES AND HAVE A 8" PUDDLE AFTERWARDS. I HAVE CHECKED THE VENT TUBE ITS FINE. I HAVE CHECKED THE STRAINER AND ITS IS FINE.
COULD SOMETHING BE IN THE OLD FILTER THAT IS MAKING IT LEAK THIS WAY. LOKING FOR SOME POINTERS HERE IF ANY OF YOU HAVE RUN ACROSS THAT BEFORE.
THANKS

After wiping every thing down, can you not see any leak? There is some leak detector you can get from Napa, that you put in the hyd fluid, and run the tractor for a while, and if you have a leak, and you shine a black light around the tractor, in a dark area, you will see the leak as the fluid will now give off a yellow/greenish look.

Your filter might not be fully tighten.

If you do as above, you will find your leak.

I'd be looking at the cooling fan for the transmission thats supposed to be on the drive shaft. For you to have had a branch puncture your filter it probably also took the plastic blades off the fan.
