- Kubota BX25D
I'm new to the forum and tractor ownership here so thanks ahead for the help and I'll go ahead and apologize for being long winded here. I bought a 2014 kubota BX25D a few weeks ago and was hoping you guys could help me out with an issue with the dash. I was digging up some stumps with the backhoe and as i was trying to lift a stump up with the backhoe and a root poked underneath my rear wheel fender and caught my taillight wires and pulled the red wire apart and blew the fuse that controlled most of all the lighting and dash. I fixed up the wire and tucked everything back up nicely and replaced the fuse and everything besides the hour meter and tach are working now. The tach does the self check with key on but just hangs out at 0 while in use and the hour meter doesn't count. So I found some wiring diagrams and saw that they get an input signal from the alternator. I started the tractor, unplugged the 3 wire connector at the back of the alternator and checked for voltage at the pin that sent signal to the dash. I got 0 volts. I also checked for voltage at the connector for the dash panel itself and still 0 volts as i was worried that maybe the other wires on that connector on alternator might have been needed to get a signal to the dash. Then it hit me, is my alternator even working? I checked battery voltage with tractor at mid RPMs after starting and it was sitting at 12 volts for the system. So I'm thinking that when that wire broke it might have killed the regulator and/or alternator. As I'm sure most of you all know, kubota alternators are EXPENSIVE! So I came here to get confirmation of what my diagnoses is and if there is possibly something I missed along the way? Any recommendations on where to get an alternator at or should I try replacing the regulator? I found the kubota alternators to be around 300 and found an aftermarket one on amazon for 188. I appreciate everyones input and assistance as I don't want to just throw money on a 300 dollar alternator for no reason :banghead:
