Hello everyone. I'm new to this site and have read through a lot of info and am hoping someone can help. I have a Kubota L35 with a D1703 engine. This motor has been completely rebuilt because of a rod bearing that went on me. During the process of finding out what the problem initially was, initially thought it was a "fuel knock", I took the injector pump off and had it rebuilt. After getting it back my mechanic and I discovered it was a rod knock. After several months of trying to obtain parts, it is finally back together and running... kind of... here is the new problem..
When running it now has a FUEL KNOCK. I'm getting excellent pressure from the injector pump on cyl 1 and 3. #2 is lower pressure. We took the injection pump back off and back to the Company that re-built it. They put it on their flow machine "while I was there" and it pumped up to the proper pressure all 3 cylinders. (computerized graph on the machine) We then cleaned out the fuel bowl which I have to say was pretty nasty, cleaned up the filter as best as possible (new one ordered) put the injector pump back on... still same problem. Checked all the lines and found the fuel pump was barely putting out fuel.
I plan on changing all the fuel lines, filter, and pump. Does this sound like it is the issue or could it still be the injector pump? Motor runs but smokes a bit of black smoke. Please help.
