Kubota dealers?

That's where all the junk is sold.

There can be "deals" there but you HAVE to know what your doing. Its VERY easy to end up with a massive and costly POS.

We used to call Ritchie's "The home of the 10 Gallon overhaul". Ie: keep painting over the rust and dirt until it looks new ;) When an auction company (Ritchies) offers an in-house painting service, be afraid, be very afraid;) Refurbishing | Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers

I usually prefer to trade instead of selling outright. Here, you have to pay sales tax on the trade difference. And with sales tax at 9%, if they give you 11,000 for a trade, that's about $1000 you save in sales tax.

So, you would have to sell that $11,000 unit for at least $12,000 to break even. And, you'd have to work to find a buyer, maybe advertise, meet with potential buyers, etc...

Not worth the hassle to me. I prefer to trade.

I like to sell my used equipment myself. It's usually in good shape and I can talk knowledgeably about its strengths and weaknesses. That's enough in itself to make the selling and showing of it enjoyable. It's nothing but pure fun to meet the folks looking for used equipment and listen to the projects they have in mind. And selling it myself lets me adjust the price to help youngsters who are just starting out. After all, I was once one of them myself.

Selling it myself also gives me a chance to clear my barn of the manuals, books, attachments, tools, spare filters... and whatever else that makes owning that particular machine a lot more useable. That kind of stuff is invaluable to the new owner of a used tractor, and it represents years of hard-learned experience on my end. If I traded the tractor in that kind of useful stuff might or might not go along with the tractor. Chances are it would just be lost and need to be re-created by the next owner. And where's the point in that?

As for price, I can always do as well and probably a little better on the money end than if I traded in to a dealer...unless I've dropped the price as I said, but then the payback is on a different ledger.
Enjoy, rScotty

I traded in my little Ford 1700 for my current Kubota. The Kubota dealer gave me within 10% of the going market price and no hassles, stupid people checking out your tractor or bad checks with this trade. I would go this way again in a heartbeat.

The way I tend to look at such things is: do I need all I can get out of my old? or can I afford to pay someone to sell it for me? As for dealers, they're like any other dealers; it's a job and that job is to earn money.

Here are six 85hp Kubotas coming up for auction Tuesday in Sacramento. I may bid on one of them. Just need to check shipping from CA to GA.
Are the crawlers(tracks on back instead of tires any good)?

The tire tractors all sold for $22,000 each.

The rear crawler tractors all sold for $20,000 each.

They were all 2009 M8540N with 2,500+/- hours.
That seems like a lot of tractor for the $$.

I wish they had been closer than CA.

Looks like it'll be a new 50hp Kioti for me.
