Hello all,
Just got a mailing today from Kubota, referencing a "mandatory campaign" for G & TG series tractors.

Anyone know what (and where) a "Drag Link Nut" is? It does not have the proper torque.

So, if you have one of these, call your dealer.

Have a good one,
Neil.

Pete,
Do you know what the Drag Link Nut is?

Thanks,

The drag link is a metal rod or tube that connects the Pitman arm on the steering box to the tie rod. It keeps your wheels turning together at the same time. It will have a pin or stud on the ends to hold it on and facilitate removal and replacement, so the nut in question is what holds it on.

I haven't had cause (until now) to even look at the drag link(s) on my G1800, so I don't know anything special or specific about them. Mine has "four-wheel steering" (both front and rear wheels turn) so I wonder if it's the front or rear or both. Since these tractors don't go that fast, about the worst thing that could happen would be to leave it stranded if the drag link fell off. Well, I guess if it fell off just as you were about to turn away from a cliff or a burning brush pile it could be worse.

Pete,
Thanks... ( I learn something everyday on TBN).

I was hoping it was a bolt on the gizmo that keeps the belt tensioned (belt tensioner?) for the mower. Mine is loose, but I can't figure out how to tighten it - beyond using my fingers. I'll have them check it out at the same time as this.

Happy new year,
Neil.

Do you have an owners manual? I would think it would state in there how to adjust it. G

My MMM belts have never needed adjusting, so I don't know how to either. I do grease all the fittings on it (about 5-6) everytime I use it. I have an owner's manual for it out in the shop - when I'm out there today I'll take a look at belt tightening if I can remember to.

Would you post the letter from Kubota, I have a TG1860 and see nothing resembling what you are talking about!!

Thanks,

Kubota Tractor Corporation

December 22, 2004

Dear Kubota Customer:

(My name, model, dealer, serial number appear here.)

Kubota has identified a problem on some G and TG Series Tractors. The Drag Link Nut does not have the proper torque. Our records indicate that you are the current owner of the above model and serial number unit.

THIS IS A MANDATORY CAMPAIGN, which requires immediate action to avoid potential failures, dissatisfaction or downtime.

KTC requests that you contact your selling Kubota dealer as soon as possible to have the necessary work performed on your G or TG series tractor, at no charge to you. If you no longer own your tractor, we ask that you immediately provide this letter to the new owner or provide the name, address and telephone number of the new owner in writing to: Kubota Technical Support Center

Then there is a picture of the seial number locations.

Kubota Tractor Corporation is conducting this MANDATORY CAMPAIGN in which the Drag Link Nut must have the torque checked and verified on the affected tractors.

If you should have any questions, please call (888) 458-2862 for the Kubota dealer locator and ask for your local dealer or consult the dealer that sold the unit.

Sincerely
Jim Ramsdall, Director of Service
Kubota Tractor Corporation

Does it give you a serial number range? mine is 163399 and shows no problem and in addition has been flawless since the day it was born July 1998!
