Has anyone have one of these, if so, what is your opinion of it. What implements can be used with it? And, what problems have you had. Thanks for any input.

There is actually a Kubota specific forum in this site (scan down on the main menu to just below "Trailers".

If you post your question there, you'd probably get a much better response.

Unfortunately, I have no clue about the G1800, though. Seen one. Looks fun.

Post in the Kubota forum and you'll get the answers you're looking for.

Been using one for in excess of ten years now. An excellent product overall with adequate power (@18 HP I believe) in the three cylinder Kubota diesel engine. MOws just about anthing as fast as you can get through it. We put a trailer hitch on ours and pull a 17 cu. ft. trailer around the commercial nursery for sundry jobs. It is also used to chop/mulch leaves in the fall for mulching the plant beds and composting them for next years soil amendment. The only difficulties we have had is that we had to replace the driveshaft between the motor and transmission (a real PITA to get to and replace without completely dismantling the machine, but doable); cost of part $300.00. There were no grease zerks on the driveshaft but had sealed U-joints which dried out and failed completely (came apart with a great lot of noise). I asked Kubota to at least partially bear the cost of the part but no luck there. My reasoning was that they obviously expected the part to last indefinitely since they put no grease zerks on the U-joints--deaf ears again. I reasoned that after several years of operation $300.00 wasn't too bad spread over those years. We also replaced the seat (not cheap either). One other thing of note is that the gauge wheels have either sintered carbon (?) bearings or greaseable ones and they should be regularly checked because the replacements are expensive. Other than that it is and has been a hard-working machine probably worked harder than intended at times. The machine was also made in a 4-wheel steer model which I did not opt for because my mowing area is relatively free of trees, etc.and I didn't need the tight turning radius.

I had to do the same change on a G1900 with around 1200 hours. It was indeed a PITA job, but if others have to undertake this I can provide some pointers learned the hard way. My hope is that the new shaft lasts the life of the mower, for I really had to force the new shaft onto the transmission hub in order to insert the holding pin and I have no idea how I would remove this.

Great machine otherwise.

Hi Sniggle, are you able to provide any tips on getting this drive shaft out? Cheers.
