I recently bought a new GR2120 and wanted to check the Rpm at Idle and full Throttle so I willl explain how to do it.
I,Am a 2 cycle 4 cycle repair tech and a few years ago i bought a Laser photo tachometer from Amazon to check the Rpm,s
on flywheels and shafts using this unit and reflective tape attached to the shafts or flywheels or etc.
The unit is made by Nicety and the model is TC802 and sells for 24.99 with reflective tape and a soft case.
https://www.amazon.com/Professional-Laser-Photo-Tachometer-Measurements/dp/B000MMW0PY
I attached a small piece of tape to the flywheel or shafts or pulley and the shine the laser beam from the unit on the
tape while the engine is running and it will read the rpm of the engine. Here are some pictures of the unit in work.
My GR2120 measured 1360 Rpm at idle and 3173 Rpm at full throttle just about the spec the operating manual says it should be.
The pictures do not show the engine running or where the tape is because the tape is not shown on this part of the flywheel.
